Linda
Rodriguez, CNC, is the founder of Functional
NUTRITION®, Inc. in Carmel, California.
A practicing nutrition counselor since 1993,
she is dedicated to educating her clients and
the community through individual client sessions
and group presentations on proper nutrition
and exercise in order to help them prevent and
control disease and the symptoms of disease.
Linda completed her training as a Clinical Nutrition
Consultant, Nutrition Educator and Diet Counselor
at the Institute for Educational Therapy (IET), a
five-campus, state-certified, California-based school,
which was founded in 1983, and is one of the few professional
institutions in the country where students learn to
counsel clients in the use of organic whole foods
to maintain health and treat disease. IET graduates
now number over 500, with many working in clinical,
community and business settings, and several, like
Linda, with nutritional consulting practices of their
own, or in association with other health professionals.
In 1998, IET graduates became eligible to be on the
Blue Shield "mylifepath" provider list.
Ms.
Rodriguez is passionate about keeping abreast
of the latest information in the ever-growing
field of nutrition, so every year she is one
of the few non-MDs who attends professional
continuing education seminars and workshops
put on by "leading edge" complementary
health organizations, such as the Institute
for Functional Medicine and the Orthomolecular
Medical Society. She is a member of both organizations.
In
addition to her role as a nutrition consultant,
Ms. Rodriguez is also an ACE Certified Personal
Coach and Reiki Practitioner. This enables her
to successfully incorporate exercise and other
healing techniques into her private practice,
where she sees herself as both an educator and
coach. She says: "I see myself as both
a nutrition consultant and personal coach, and
in both capacities I design individualized programs
for each of my clients, made up of tasty, nutritious
foods, and an exercise regimen suitable to each
persons unique needs. Proper nutrition,
combined with regular exercise and occasional
supplementation is the only way I know to maintain
a positive attitude, a strong body, and a healthy
immune system."
Ms.
Rodriguez is committed to educating her clients
and community in how to use nutrition and exercise
to prevent, as well as treat, their "family
diseases," and is planning to write a book
on the topic. Her mother died of Alzheimers
Disease, so Ms. Rodriguez has a special interest
in this debilitating condition. She is now investigating
the feasibility of conducting clinical studies
with people in early stages of dementia, on
the efficacy of using nutritional approaches
to the treatment of Alzheimers, particularly
foods and supplements used to lower homocysteine
levels.
Ms.
Rodriguez has had her own radio program and
looks forward to utilizing the media, both print
and electronic, to continue educating people
on the benefits of individualized nutrition
and exercise programs. To set up interviews
or presentation, please contact Linda Rodriguez
at (831) 625-2118.
